Guidance for Companions and visitors
Visiting Royal Arch Chapters
A Scottish Royal Arch Mason may visit Chapters and Mark Lodges under recognised Constitutions. Royal Arch regalia is generally acceptable when visiting Mark Lodges outside Scotland. When attending a Mark ceremonial worked within a Scottish Craft Lodge, Lodge regalia should be worn.
Installed Principals and Past Principals who are not Installed Masters in the Craft may not meet the qualification to attend certain Chair degree workings under the English Constitution.
Receiving visitors for the Mark and Excellent Master degrees
A visitor who has not received the Mark degree cannot be admitted to witness that degree or a Mark affiliation. A visitor who has not received the Excellent Master degree cannot be admitted for that part of the evening.
Visiting Cryptic Councils
Contact the Recorder before setting out, as meetings are liable to change or cancellation. Reciprocal arrangements differ between Constitutions and a visitor may be asked to take a heling obligation.
Visiting Lodge & Council
English Constitution visitors are commonly qualified for the Royal Ark Mariner degree only and may need to retire during Red Cross Council workings. Visitors from Irish Knight Mason Councils may be qualified for the Red Cross Council but not the Royal Ark Mariner Lodge. Seek advice in advance where qualification is uncertain.
